Brush the inside of a loaf tin with melted butter.
Crumble the bread into a bowl and pour milk over it. Set it aside for 10 minutes.
With a potato masher, blend the mince into the milk bread mixture.
Add beaten eggs, tomato sauce and the seasoning (salt, pepper and mixed herbs) along with the chopped onions and mix well.
Bake in the greased loaf tin (uncovered) for an hour till done.
Unmould onto a flat dish. If there is some liquid in the loaf tin, let it stand and it will be absorbed. Do not throw as the liquid will have a lot of flavour.
To make things even more interesting, You can bake the mixture in a muffin tin, boil and mash 1/2 kg potatoes and blend 2 tbsp butter in them and pipe over the meat loaf. Serve garnished with lightly boiled vegetables and boiled egg rings.
